Scotch Tastings and Dinners around Ohio with Robert Sickler, Master of Whisky.

For the past year, it has been my honor and great privilege to perform the Pipes for one of only 12 Whisky Masters in the United States. His name is Robert Sickler, and he has been a great host, educator and close friend. His portfolio includes Cragganmore, Dalwhinnie, Clynelish, Oban, Talisker, Caol Ila, Lagavulin, Knockando, Glen Ord, Royal Lochnagar, Linkwood, Singleton of Glendullen, and my favorite Scotch; Glenkinchie. Eight of them are referred to as the Classic Malts Selection, and they are the finest collection of single malts, representing all the major whisky flavor styles in Scotland. He also represents the full line of Johnnie Walker Blended Scotch whisky, Bushmills Irish Whisky, Crown Royal Canadian Whisky, Bulleit Bourbon and George Dickel Tennessee whisky.

I first started performing for Mr. Sickler's "whisky dinners" just prior to Saint Patrick’s Day, 2008. It was a time of firsts for me, as that was also the time period that I started traveling from pub to pub with the Guinness/Bushmills Team for St. Patrick’s week-long celebrations found throughout Columbus. (Photographs from those events can be found on the Gallery pages.) Robert has hosted events at some of the finest establishments in Columbus. The Columbus Athletic Club, The Refectory, Tutto Vino, Smith & Wollensky, The Top Steakhouse, Barcelona, G Michael’s, BOMA, Mitchell's Steakhouse, and Rosendale’s to name just a few.

My relationship with Robert will be treasured for a long time to come, though he is relocating to Denver, Colorado this September. Our loss will certainly be Denver's gain. The photographs on this page reflect only a few of the events in Ohio. Included in the photo section you will also find restaurants and their menus that accompanied Robert’s whisky selections for the dinners. A dinner in July at Cincinnati's Boi Na Braza was reviewed by Kevin and Michelle at . (Just click the link to see the review which includes more photo's and a YouTube video of me leading the devoted across Fountain Square to Nicholson's Pub.)

I will miss you my friend.
